Patriot's Day September 11th

Patriot's Day is September 11th.  During that week, restaurants will donate a portion of a select days' proceeds to support Operation Santa for our deployed troops.  Enjoy great meals, and help the troops

Book and Movie Sale benefit

A benefit Book and movie sale will take place on Saturday September 6th from 9 to 3 at 139 Main in Lebanon.  The event is a fundraiser for Xi Beta Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a community service organization of women from all walks of life.  There are 3 chapters in Lebanon.  They are selling 2009 Entertainment Books...they make great gifts under $20.

If you would like to donate your movies to the cause, they are looking for DVD and VHS tapes that are appropriate for family viewing.  Contact 258-5337 if you have donations, or stop by the sale and drop them off. 

Golf Tournament

The Lebanon Fire District Coummunity Assistance Fund is having their third annual Golf Tournament fundriaser at Mallard Creek in Lebanon on Monday September 8th.  There are a few slots left if you'd like to be a team. 

Food Drive

Heresco Chriopractic, corner of 7th and Harrison in Corvallis, and Advanced Chiropractic in the Heritage Mall will host a food drive for the Linn Benton Food Share.  Canned food donations will be accepted along with cash donations...keep in mind $1 can purchase 8 pounds of food.  Donations can also be made Monday September 8th through Friday September 12th. 

Scrapbook Show and Sale

September 6th fro 10 to 4, Brownsville Senior Center is sponsoring an all comers Scrapbook Show and Sale.  Consultants from Creative Memories, Stampin' Up, and Close to my Heart will have supplies to purchase.  Admission is $1.  Bring your artwork!  Pages will be voted on by people attending the show, and the Best of Show pages will be awarded a $75 basket of scrapbook supplies.

Benefit Softball Tournament for the Lukesic family

The Lukesic family has lost a son and two youg grandchildren in a car accident on the 2nd of August.  Friends, family and co-workers are trying to raise money to help thge families in their time of need.  There will be a benefit softball tournament on September 20th and 21st at Bryant and Timber Linn parks.  The fee is $250 per team with all the proceeds going to the Lukesic family.  For more information, contact Fred Nesbit at svalleytiger@netzero.net. 

Lebanon Optimists Orientation

Linn Benton Young Marines

Stop by the Young Marine Booth at the Albany Rifle and Gun Club fall gun show at the Linn County Fair grounds on Sept. 27th and 28th. Let your kids be photographed in camo sitting on a Recon ATV.  While you're there, ask about the Young Marine Program and see how you can get started.  become a leader in your school, community and at home.  learn discipline, respect for yourself, and others.  oh ya!  Young Marines have fun too!  Join the Young Marines today.

Girl Scout Celebration

Girl Scouts of Santiam Council is holding a "council celebration" event for all  past and current Girl Scouts on Saturday September 13th from 10 to 1 at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Albany.  The event will include a display of historical uniforms, handbooks, scrapbooks, and pictures.  Activities will include crafts, singing, a scavenger hunt, and special visit from the founder of Girl Scouts.  Visit www.girlscoutsofsantiam.org for more information.

We are unable to determine in advance how often, or when your PSA will be mentioned on air.  Because this is a free service, our staff is obligated to fulfill paid announcements first.

Free Dental Clinic

Open daily for low income school age youth who do not have health insurance.  Referrals are made through Christine Kulonis, the Corvallis School District nurse at 757-4527.  Dr. Ken Johnson will volunteer his services for 60 hours each month and see approximately 40 children each month.  Volunteer hygienists are on hand as well.  For more information, contact Helen Higgins at 757-1909 ext. 201
